DataGarda at IDPRO’s FGD on Sustainable Data Center Standards

Sep 23, 2025 | Event

On 22 September 2025, DataGarda participated in the Focused Group Discussion (FGD) organized by the Indonesia Data Center Provider Organization (IDPRO) at Menara Wisma 46, Jakarta. This event marked the second FGD in IDPRO’s initiative to develop a Sustainable Data Center (SDC) Standard, a framework that will guide Indonesia’s digital infrastructure industry toward a greener and more resilient future.

Advancing Sustainable Standards

The FGD built upon IDPRO’s long-standing commitment to sustainability, which began with webinars in 2020–2021, the publication of the Green Data Center Whitepaper in 2021, and continued through a series of consultations and discussions up to 2025. The ultimate goal is the official launch of the Sustainable Data Center Standard later this year (Nov–Dec 2025).

To ensure inclusivity, the framework is being shaped through cluster-based discussions, where members and stakeholders focus on different aspects of sustainability:

  • Design & Infrastructure

  • Energy Efficiency & Green Technology

  • Policy & Regulation

  • Operations & Management

  • DC Talent Development

During this session, participants also explored the possibility of introducing a new cluster dedicated to Cybersecurity, highlighting the importance of securing sustainable infrastructure with resilient digital protection.

DataGarda’s Role in the DC Talent Cluster

As a member of IDPRO, DataGarda actively contributed to the DC Talent cluster. We firmly believe that people are the foundation of sustainability. No matter how advanced the infrastructure or technology, sustainable data centers cannot exist without a skilled, prepared, and empowered workforce.

Our key contributions included:

  • Emphasizing the need to bridge Indonesia’s digital talent gap with structured training, certifications, and industry-driven programs.

  • Highlighting the importance of partnerships with academic institutions to align curricula with industry needs.

  • Supporting the creation of a national DC talent pool to ensure future readiness of the ecosystem.

  • Promoting awareness and career pathways in sustainable data center management for students and young professionals.

By focusing on talent, DataGarda ensures that sustainability extends beyond facilities and technology — it is also about empowering the next generation of professionals to carry this mission forward.

Looking Ahead

The outcomes of this FGD will be consolidated during IDPRO’s Technical Advisory Group Meeting, forming the final draft of the Sustainable Data Center Standard before its launch at the end of 2025.

For DataGarda, attending this FGD reinforces our commitment to:

  • Support Indonesia’s digital sovereignty,

  • Champion sustainability as a core principle, and

  • Nurture a future-ready DC workforce to drive long-term industry growth.

✨ Together with IDPRO and fellow industry stakeholders, we are proud to play our part in shaping a greener, smarter, and more secure digital future for Indonesia.
